Sydney Jones

Sydney Jones, originally from Westmont, is a dancer, choreographer, and educator. She began her training at the Center for Dance and was a part of their competition company for many years. She attended the Chicago Academy for the Arts for high school where she worked with teachers and choreographers such as Randy Duncan, Nick Pupillo, and Lizzie Mackenzie. She graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in jazz dance from Point Park University, where she worked with choreographers including Aszure Barton, Kiesha Lalama, and Colleen Hooper.
After graduating, she began dancing with South Chicago Dance Theatre where she was thrilled to work with Kia Smith, Monique Haley, August Tye, and Crystal Michelle Perkins, among others. She now dances with Inaside Chicago Dance under the direction of Robert McKee. She has performed at Dance for Life Chicago, South Chicago Dance Festival, Black History Month Series, Edinburgh Film Festival, and Inaside’s Fall Concert, to name a few. She has choreographed multiple concert dance works and presented her work at New Dances 2020 with Thodos Dance Chicago and DanceWorks Chicago, Trifecta Dance Festival’s A New Light performance, and Simantikos’s Choreo Kick-Off. In the spring of 2021, she won Inaside’s choreographic competition. Her choreography has been commissioned by Inaside Dance Chicago and Simantikos Dance Chicago. Additionally, she is the Competition Coordinator for Dance on Broadway in Chicago and is on faculty at Artistic Pursuit in Westmont.
